Freshly picked tea leaves

One farm · Kyoto, Japan

What makes ours different

  • One cultivar, Gokou, grown on a single tea farm in the hills of Kyoto.
  • Shaded before picking, then made from the first harvest of the year, in May.
  • Stone-milled into an extremely smooth powder with a vivid emerald-green colour.
  • Silky and creamy, with rich umami and fresh green notes. Fresh, never stale.

Our story

Years of tasting, one matcha

I found matcha seven years ago, looking for something other than coffee. Most of what I could buy in the UK was stale, dull and bitter.

So I spent two years tasting farm samples, then travelled to Japan to learn from the farmers. THAT MATCHA is the result: fresh, vivid and creamy, as matcha should taste.
